Free medical camp

Even after decades of freedom, India is struggling to provide basic health services to its people. According to government sources, in India 45 children die every hour due to respiratory infections. 1 child dies every 2 minutes due to diarrhoea. And annually, about 2 million children under 5 years of age die due to preventable diseases.
The situation calls for timely care and diagnosis which can reduce the incidence of morbidity and mortality especially among children and women.
Awadh Samaj is one such special initiative of Smile Foundation to provide healthcare services to meet the immediate health care needs of the marginalized community in remote rural areas and slums through standalone camps. Customized health camps are organized extensively across the country offering comprehensive health services – curative, preventive, promotive and referral, to a large number of people in selected intervention areas.

Blanket Distribution

Besides distribution of free food, the Awadh Samaj also arranges for distribution of clothes and blankets to children in the villages where we hold our food relief programs. As you can see from the photos on our website, many of the children attending our food relief programs hardly have any clothes to wear.

Most come wearing only an old pair of shorts. Smaller children usually don’t even have that, and often come to our programs naked. We try to arrange for clothes for all of these children, and in the winter we have a special distribution of winter blankets to help them keep warm at night.

Social activities

Engaging in social and productive activities you enjoy, like taking an art class or becoming a volunteer in your community or at your place of worship, may help to maintain your well-being.

We want our children to succeed in the social world–to learn how to cooperate, make friends, and negotiate conflicts. We want them to develop strong perspective-taking skills, and treat other people with fairness and compassion.
